Worthington in Last Days of American Crime

According to Mania.com, Sam Worthington will star The Last Days of American Crime based on the forthcoming comic from Radical Publishing. The news was revealed by comic creator Rick Remender.

The story is described as a heist thriller told against a sci fi backdrop. In a near-future America, news has broken that, in a matter of weeks, the government is set to roll out mind-control technology that will kill the criminal impulse in all citizens. Chaos descends on America’s cities as the country braces for the new order. Career criminal Graham Brick is forced to accelerate the heist of his career with an untested new crew in order to beat the deadline. Sounds interesting. Remender will write the screenplay. He wrote the comic which was illustrated by Greg Tocchini. The first issue will be available in stores in December.

Worthington stars next month in James Cameron’s Avatar.

Yahoo! Movies has the first trailer Clash of the Titans. The movie, directed by Louis Leterrier, stars Sam Worthington as Perseus, born of a god but raised as a man, who is helpless to save his family from Hades, vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny. Clash of the Titans opens March 2010.

Clash of the Titans Posters

AICN has a look at a number of posters for Clash of the Titans. I’m not sure if these will ever see the light of day, but I certainly hope they do. Included are posters with Gemma Arterton as Io, Ralph Fiennes as Pluto and Sam Worthington as Perseus. We also get looks at Princess Andromeda (Alexa Davalos), Medusa, Pegasus and the Kraken. I’ve included one poster below — which kinda reminds me of King Kong with a bound Princess Andromeda being offered up to the mighty Kraken who we see silhouetted in the background. Pretty cool. You can visit AICN for the rest as well as HitFix.com where they’ve got another poster featuring Ralph Fiennes as Hades.

Avatar

The full-length trailer for James Cameron’s Avatar is now online. Beware however – it has subtitles on it from some language that I don’t even recognize.

The trailer really explains the movie quite well. I stayed away from reading anything about this story but the trailer seems to outline the general idea. It’s always got to come down to money and/or a woman, doesn’t it? Even if she is blue.

Avatar will be in theatres on December 18.

Mad Max 4 Finally On

After years of rumours and speculation, it seems that a fourth Mad Max movie is really going to happen. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that George Miller will film Mad Max: Fury Road in Sydney and throughout the outback of New South Wales beginning in August next year. Although there is not yet any studio backing for the movie, it will carry with it a $100 million budget.

Some of the names recently being thrown around to star in Fury Road include Charlize Theron, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hardy and Sam Worthington. Worthington and Hardy seem to be getting the most press. A cast for the movie has not been announced but even as I write this article, some media outlets are saying that Hardy is out and Worthington is in to play the lead role.

Mel Gibson starred as a cop in the post-apocalyptic wastelands of Australia in the first three Mad Max movies in 1979, 1981 and 1985. It is these three movies that are seen as kick-starting his movie career. Although Gibson’s name has popped up from time to time, it does not appear that he will have anything to do with Mad Max 4.

George Miller wrote and directed Mad Max, Mad Max 2 and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

Check out the video below where Miller makes his announcement on Fury Road.

Although the movie will start shooting in 2010, it is expected to take two friggin’ years to complete so it probably won’t be in theatres until 2012 or 2013.

A tonne of new pics, like the one above, from James Cameron’s Avatar are online. Does that guy ever smile? A new trailer for the movie debuted in theatres this weekend. I haven’t had a chance to see it yet but apparently there’s a pirated copy of it online. I’m going to wait to see it in the theatre or when it officially hits the internet next week (on October 29th) rather that watch some shitty YouTube version of the trailer. I suggest you do the same.

Avatar will be in theatres on December 18th. Continue reading to see the rest of the new pictures…. Read more
