Brian Cox Lands One Role And Might Join The Hobbit
Brian Cox has landed a rold in the big screen adaptation of the Wildstorm/DC Comics miniseries Red. The story centres on a former black-ops CIA agent (Bruce Willis) who is living a quiet life in retirement until a group of high-tech assassins show up to kill him. He reassembles his old team to figure out who is out to take them out.
Cox will play a former Cold War spy and a nemesis of Willis’ character.
Also joining the cast of Red is Julian McMahon (a Vice President with a dark past), Ernest Borgnine (a CIA record keeper) and Richard Dreyfuss (a rich guy who finances government contracts).
Cox, McMahon, Borgnine and Dreyfuss are joining an all-star cast that already includes Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John C. Reilly and Mary Louise Parker.
On a totally different note, AintItCoolNews is reporting that Guillermo Del Toro and Peter Jackson are very interested in having Brian Cox play one of the thirteen dwarves that will be travelling with Bilbo and Gandalf in The Hobbit. With all the lawsuits surrounding the film seemingly settled and actual sets being built, it seems about time that we start hearing some names that are definitely going to be attached to this movie. It’s been too long!
So far the only official cast member we have is the director himself, Mr. Del Toro, who has said he will be playing some kind of creature in the movie that will have “a line or two and die quickly“.
Hopefully we will have some Hobbit casting news for you soon!
