Night at the Museum 2 Tops Box Office
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian starring Ben Stiller was the top movie at the box office from Friday to Sunday earning an estimated $53.5 million. That tops the original which opened in December 2006 with $30.4 million on its way to $250 million at the domestic box office.
Failing to live up to the hype, Terminator Salvation opened in 2nd place with a disappointing $43 million. The movie, starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington, has earned $56.3 million since opening Thursday.
In 3rd place for the weekend was Star Trek. The movie, starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, earned another $21.9 million bringing its 3-week total to $183.5 million.
Falling to 4th spot was Angels & Demons starring Tom Hanks with $21.4 million. The sequel to The Da Vinci Code has earned $81.5 in 2 weekends of release.
Opening in 5th place was the comedy Dance Flick with $11.1 million.
Next weekend’s new releases include Disney/Pixar’s Up and Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell.

Movie Review: Night at the Museum 2
In Night At The Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, we once again meet meet up with Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) and this time he isn’t a struggling single father, but instead the CEO of his own company that specializes in making little gadgets (like that clapping light idea he had in the first movie). Larry is a busy dude and doesn’t have time to do much else but stare at his Blackberry and talk business. He still has a soft spot for the Museum of Natural History and he is quite upset when he finds out that many of old friends from the museum are being put in a big box and shipped to a storage room in the basement of the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. Soon after he learns the heartbreaking news, Larry gets a phone call from his old buddy Jebediah Smith (Owen Wilson) who informs him that the gang is under siege by an Egyptian pharoah named Kahmunrah (Hank Azaria). Larry heads out to DC where he plans on returning to his humble roots and saving his old pals from the impending danger. Read more

Two New Additions to Museum Sequel
The Summer movie season kicks off this weekend with the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman. Word tonight from /Film that a new trailer for the Ben Stiller comedy Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian was shown before a preview screening of Wolverine, including shots of a couple of new additions to the Museum sequel.
