Seth Rogen In Green Hornet Outfit

The first pictures of Seth Rogen in his full Green Hornet gear are online. I have one of the pics below for you to see. You can also proceed to SplashNewsOnline.com to see some more but I will warn you – it’s one of those websites with a tonne of ads and pop-ups and when I first went on it, the site froze my computer and pissed me off something awful.

The picture below shows Rogen (Britt Reid/The Green Hornet) and Jay Chou (Kato) filming a scene while their much lower paid stuntmen look on. I’m pretty sure by the look on Chou’s stuntman’s face that someone just farted.

I think from this point on, I will refer to The Green Hornet movie as “G.I. Joe 2010″. It just seems to me, judging from a lot of online comments, that many people have a real hate-on for this movie even though it just started filming a few weeks ago. I even saw a lot of people writing comments about the picture below and saying the movie is going to suck because of that picture – how the hell can you even tell?

Anyways, I’ll hold out some hope that it will be decent. I have a feeling that Rogen and company may pull this one off.

The Green Hornet will be in theatres on December 17, 2010.

Basterd In The Green Hornet

Christoph Waltz

It looks like Nicolas Cage’s loss is a Basterd’s gain. The movie that seems to have hit roadblock after roadblock finally has some great news to report. Christoph Waltz, who has delighted crowds with his portrayal of Colonel Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds, has landed the role of the villain in The Green Hornet.

Waltz already won the 2009 Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor for his Basterds role and he is sure to garner some serious Oscar consideration for Best Supporting Actor.

The Green Hornet has been plagued with problems from day one, whether it be director changes, actors dropping out or date changes. If Waltz is able to deliver anywhere near the performance he did in Basterds, we are sure to be in for a treat.

The Green Hornet has just recently starting shooting for its December 17, 2010 release.

Green Hornet Un-Cage-ed

Nicolas Cage

It looks like The Green Hornet movie has one less name on its role call. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nicolas Cage is out as Mr. X, the villain in the Michel Gondry movie. This despite the fact that the movie has already began shooting, as you can see from some of the on-set pictures we have HERE.

I know I’ve already listed all the problems this movie has ran into since the moment it was a glimmer in Kevin Smith’s eye but here’s a refresher:

1) Director Kevin Smith pulls out of the project in 2004.
2) Director Stephen Chow abandons the director’s chair in December 2008.
3) The release date moved from June 25, 2010 to July 9, 2010.
4) Stephen Chow drops out of playing Kato for director Michel Gondry.
5) The release date moved from July 9, 2010 to December 17, 2010.

and you can now add:

6) Nicolas Cage no longer playing Mr. X.

Let’s hope “the list” stops at 6.

The Green Hornet will be in theatres on December 17, 2010 (I hope!).

Green Hornet Gets New Release Date

The Green Hornet - Seth Rogen & Black Beauty

It looks like The Green Hornet has hit another obstacle in what has been a seemingly bumpy ride for the movie. BoxOfficeMojo.com has indicated that the release date has been moved ahead five months from July 9, 2010 to the new date of December 17, 2010. This change comes on the heels of a series of setbacks that have riddled the movie, including:

1) Director Kevin Smith pulling out of the project in 2004.
2) Director Stephen Chow abandoning the director’s chair in December 2008.
3) The release date being moved from June 25, 2010 to July 9, 2010 (not a big deal in light of the new change).
4) Stephen Chow dropping out of playing Kato for director Michel Gondry.

The movie already has Seth Rogen signed on to play Britt Reid/The Green Hornet, Jay Chow as Kato, Nicholas Cage to play Mr. X, Cameron Diaz as Lenore Case and Edward James Olmos, so it seems the main casting has been completed. Michel Gondry, whose previous work includes Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, will direct. The movie will start shooting in a couple of months but I guess Green Hornet fans who are eagerly awaiting the release will have to wait until Christmas-time to see the film instead of seeing it in a nice, air-conditioned theatre in the middle of the summer.

Edward James Olmos In Green Hornet

edwardjamesolmos HollywoodSnitch.com has learned that Edward James Olmos will be joining the cast of The Green Hornet. Olmos was at Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con on the weekend when he had this to say:

I’m on my way to do The Green Hornet. It’ll be a lot of fun with Seth, Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz.

I guess no one told him yet that Jay Chou will be in the movie too – as Kato!

Most of the young kids will know Olmos as Admiral William Adama on Battlestar Galactica but for me, he will always be the ice-cold Lieutenant Martin Castillo from Miami Vice. He was probably the best character on the show.

The Green Hornet will be starting production in the very near future for its June 25, 2010 release.

Jay Chou Is Kato

jaychou The official word is out on who will play Kato in Michael Gondry’s The Green Hornet and it’s Jay Chou. Who the hell is Jay Chou you may ask? He’s a famous Taiwanese singer and actor who plays the piano and cello and blends American and Asian music styles. His 2000 album “Jay” was a huge success in Asia.

Sounds perfect for a role in The Green Hornet…..The Musical!!!!

Chou will star alongside Seth Rogen and possibly Nicholas Cage and Cameron Diaz. Kato was first played by Bruce Lee in The Green Hornet television series and helped launch his legendary movie career.

In a statement about his new role, Chou had this to say:

It’s an overwhelming experience to take on a role made famous by Bruce Lee….I won’t try to be Bruce Lee’s Kato – I will try to bring my own interpretation to the part.

I hope that doesn’t involve playing the piano or the cello!

The Green Hornet is scheduled to begin shooting in a few short weeks for its 2010 release.
