Funny People is the third film directed by Judd Apatow and the first starring his one-time roommate Adam Sandler. I only mention that because a big part of the story revolves around comedians who are roommates and you wonder how much of that reflects the Apatow/Sandler experience. In fact, the beginning of Funny People starts with a video of a young Sandler making prank phone calls. I get the feeling that might be real footage from their younger days, as I once heard an interview with Mr. Apatow where he mentioned that Sandler used to be a virtuoso with the phone. He also mentioned that Sandler was obsessed with seeing Apatow’s wiener, which was also a running gag in the movie… Read more

Seth Rogen Is Pissed

57947681 It looks like Sunday’s episode of HBO’s Entourage has rubbed Seth Rogen the wrong way. In the episode, there was a great debate about Rogen’s film Knocked Up and how a guy as ugly as Seth Rogen could possibly get a woman like Katherine Heigl. Mind you, the person who seemed most upset about the situation was the character named Turtle (played by Jerry Ferrara) who is probably the ugliest character on the show. It was obviously just jealousy. This is what Rogen had to say about it in an interview with E!:

Those guys are assholes. I actually ran into Matt (and) Kevin Dillon in a Starbucks. And he’s like ‘You know, I’ve got to kind of apologize because apparently the guy who created our show doesn’t like you so much.’ And I said ‘Well, I have reason to believe because I think [show creator] Doug Ellin is a moron from all I can understand so it makes sense he doesn’t like me.’ And I’ve kind of said some disparaging things about the show. Although in our defense, [producer] Mark Wahlberg called us misogynistic in an interview, so I think they kind of started that.
It’s on. Luckily I never have and never plan on watching Entourage.

I have to admit, I’m a fan of Entourage and saw the episode. I wondered why they would go after a guy like Seth Rogen so hard. It was kind of funny but not really – more ironic. I’m a big fan of Rogen and I don’t think he has anything to worry about. He’s better looking than Turtle, Drama or anyone else on that show and he’s a bigger star than any of them could ever dream of becoming. The fact that on the show Turtle is dating Jamie-Lynn Sigler (Meadow from The Sopranos) is the biggest joke on television right now!

Seth Rogen can next be seen in Funny People alongside Adam Sandler, Eric Bana, Jonah Hill, Jason Swartzman and a bunch of other big stars on July 31st. Take that Doug Ellin!

MTVMoviesBlog.com has the first look at Eminem in the upcoming movie, Funny People, directed by Judd Apatow. The movie stars the likes of Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Eric Bana, Jonah Hill, Jason Schwartzman and now the famous Detroit rapper. What exactly is his role in the film is not yet confirmed but I get the impression he at least had dinner with Adam Sandler at some point during the movie. Seems to me Eminem got off a bit easy on this one. I mean, he gets Bruno’s ass shoved in his face to help promote that movie. I think for Funny People he should have at least had Jonah Hill’s ass somewhere in the vicinity of his nose for at least five minutes. Funny People will be in theatres on July 31st.
