Movie Review: The Men Who Stare at Goats
In The Men Who Stare At Goats, Ewan McGregor plays Bob Wilton, a lowly reporter from Ann Arbor, Michigan, who finds himself stationed in Kuwait, waiting to cross the border into Iraq to cover Operation Iraqi Freedom. With his personal life in shambles after his wife left him for a one-armed man, Wilton figures that he can head to Iraq, look like a hero with some Pulitzer Prize-winning journalism and win back the love of his life. Wilton has no idea, however, how his life is about to change when he meets up with a character named Lyn Cassady (George Clooney), who claims to be a recently re-activated member of the U.S. Army’s New Earth Battalion, a unit that trained its soldiers to use paranormal powers on their missions. The men are made to believe that they can split clouds, become invisible, pass through solid walls and kill with a simple look – a practice they test out on goats. Cassady takes Wilton through the history of the classified military program, where we are introduced to characters like Lieutenant Colonel Bill Django (Jeff Bridges), the off-the-wall founder of the program and the man in charge of training the soldiers and Larry Hooper (Kevin Spacey), a psychic soldier and Lyn’s former nemesis, who is now stationed in Iraq. The Men Who Stare At Goats Trailer
The first trailer for The Men Who Stare At Goats is now online. Directed by Grant Heslov, the movie is based on the book by the Guardian columnist Jon Ronson. Ewan McGregor will play Bob Wilton, a reporter who investigates a U.S. Army unit that creates soldiers with paranormal powers. George Clooney, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey also star in the film.
The Men Who Stare At Goats will premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be in theatres on November 6th. I’ll be seeing the movie next week so I will be sure to give you my thoughts on it.

People.com has debuted the poster for Amelia. The movie stars Hilary Swank as Amelia Earhart, famed aviator who became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic ocean. Also starring are Richard Gere as Earhart’s husband and promoter George P. Putnam and Ewan McGregor as her long time friend and lover, pilot Gene Vidal. Check out the poster below.

French website Allocine has a trailer for I Love You Phillip Morris starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. In the movie, Carrey plays a man who gets sent to prison, falls in love with a fellow inmate name Phillip Morris (McGregor) and spends the rest of the movie escaping from prison after Morris is released. The first poster for I Love You Phillip Morris is now online. The movie stars Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor and is based on a book by Houston Chronicle crime reporter Steve McVicker. Carrey stars as Steven Russell, a married father who ends up in jail in Texas and falls madly in love with his prison cellmate. When his cellmate is set free, Russell escapes various prisons to be with him – four times!! What the hell?? Now that’s love! The movie is based on fact, if you can believe it.
