The Book Of Eli Update
EmpireOnline has posted a picture of a banner for The Book of Eli starring Denzel Washington and directed by The Hughes Brothers (Allen and Albert). This is the first movie directed by The Hughes Brothers since From Hell in 2001! I have also posted a picture of a poster that will be available exclusively this week at Comic-Con in San Diego. Artist Tommy Lee Edwards will be at Comic-Con and on hand to autograph his poster.
I also thought I would throw in a couple of pictures of Denzel from the movie. Looks like he needs a shower! The Book of Eli is a post-apocalyptic drama where America has deteriorated to a wasteland and Eli is a lone warrior who must protect a book that will bring society the knowledge that is key to its redemption. Gary Oldman will play the bad ass trying to stop this from happening. The movie also stars Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson and Jennifer Beals. It will be in theates on January 15, 2010.

Denzel Washington Drops Unstoppable
**Updated** Looks like Fox doesn’t want to give up on Unstoppable just yet. Variety is now reporting that the studio has gone back to Denzel Washington with a new offer in hopes he might reconsider.
A couple of weeks ago, it was revealed that the Fox thriller Unstoppable, to be directed by Tony Scott and starring Denzel Washington, was coming to a stop over budget concerns. Today comes news from Variety that Denzel has left the project altogether.
Production was scheduled to begin this fall, but Fox was apparently taking their time setting the budget and shooting schedule, leaving Washington uncertain if the project would come together. He was asked to cut his $20 million fee, but declined and instead chose to look for something else to fill his schedule.
In the movie, Washington would have been playing an experienced train engineer who must team with a newbie conductor (Chris Pine) to stop a runaway train that is carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals.
The movie would’ve marked the 5th collaboration between Scott and Washington. They most recently made The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, which has earned a relatively disappointing $61 million since opening in June.

Movie Review: The Taking of Pelham 123

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, as you are probably well aware from the trailers, stars Denzel Washington as New York City subway dispatcher Walter Garber, a man whose world is turned upside down when the Pelham 1 2 3 train is hijacked by a gang of terrorists, led by an attention-seeking loud-mouth who goes by the name Ryder (John Travolta).
