One Batman 3 Rumour That Makes Sense & One That Does Not

Slashfilm has run an interesting article about a couple of Batman 3 rumours that have surfaced on the internet today. The first, coming via Harry Knowles and AintItCool.com, has Christopher Nolan shooting the entire third movie with full IMAX cameras, something Nolan has said he has wanted to do with a movie for quite some time. This, however, could prove to be a problem considering that IMAX cameras are much bigger and heavier than normal cameras and more importantly, they only allow for a two and a half minutes film load. This is not really an issue when filming action sequences but can cause a problem when shooting a dialogue scene (the cameras are also apparently noisy).
The other rumour hitting the internet has Megan Fox starring in Batman 3 as Catwoman and has the movie shooting next year for a 2011 release. This comes via the UK gossip newspaper, The Sun. I’ll take Peter’s word that the article is on that website because I’m not even going to waste my time reading it. I can assure you of one thing – if Megan Fox is going to appear in Batman 3, we will not be finding out the news from some shitty British tabloid. Peter does criticize the tabloid’s “professional journalism” for offering its services to help Fox get into her black leather Catwoman outfit. I have to say, that’s probably the best idea I’ve ever heard come from one of those gossip rags. I would gladly offer my assistance as well to Ms. Fox for any sort of wardrobe issues and malfunctions.
Anyways, there you have it - Batman 3 might be shot entirely with IMAX cameras, which will be difficult but does make sense; and Megan Fox will be Catwoman in the movie that will begin shooting next year, which I can almost assure you is completely false. I wouldn’t be surprised if it isn’t until early 2010 when we start getting some legitimate Batman news, as Nolan is now completely buried in the production of Inception.
McG Talks T5

Terminator Salvation director McG was out and about promoting the upcoming television series “Human Target” and he ended up answering a lot of questions about a Terminator 5 movie which, by all accounts, is happening sometime in the not-to-distant future. To check out the entire interview with IGN.com, click HERE. These are some of the highlights:
-we’re working on it….Warners is excited about it. Sony is excited about it. And we can’t wait to get back at it and show the world what becomes of that war and how we master time travel because we stayed away from time travel in Salvation and I missed it. We decided it was the right thing to do and we did a lot of things right in that movie and we did many things wrong in that movie. And we’ll learn from the experience and we’ll grow and I think the next movie is going to be even more exciting and a better film.
-the idea is to play with one of the tried and true rules of the franchise – time travel – and introduce it in this picture. I don’t want to share too much, but let’s just say it’s very, very likely that John Connor is going to end up running through rooms like this where he knows something that none of us know.
-we’ll have a much more clearly defined antagonist in the new picture. It will be more of a chase movie with a new Terminator that is on your ass.
-we have the great Christian Bale, but I take a lot of satisfaction in playing a role in breaking the great Sam Worthington, who I think is one of the best actors out there.
There have already been rumours that the next Terminator will take place in London in 2011 so it looks like John Connor might be running through England with some kind of Terminator chasing him. Sounds too like both Christian Bale and Sam Worthington will be back in the mix. The movie is probably a few years away from happening with McG working on an adaptation of the Broadway musical Spring Awakening next and then 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. But it looks like he’s getting a clear idea where he wants to go with the next Terminator movie and it sounds like he plans on going back to a more similar storyline that we saw in the first three movies. At this point, it might be the smart thing to do.
Batman 3 To Start Shooting Next Year!

Today’s Comic-Con panel for The Book of Eli ended up being a great reveal for Batman lovers. When asked about a possible Batman 3, this is what Gary Oldman had to say about the movie:
The next Batman is next year, so I think it is two years away. But you didn’t hear it from me.
Okay Gary, we’ll try not to let anyone know you let that slip – ha!
Although Oldman has back-peddled a bit in follow-up interviews and said it’s probably 2 or 3 years away, I think he might have just got a tongue-lashing from Warner Bros. Who knows….
He didn’t have anything to say about the involvement of Christian Bale or Christopher Nolan but at least we know the movie is happening. There’s been plenty of rumours going around about Bale and/or Nolan not doing anymore Batman movies and perhaps there not even being another Batman for quite some time but at least now we now that by 2011 the Dark Knight will return in all his glory. If Nolan is to be involved, he’ll have to squeeze Batman in soon after the completion of his next big-budget movie, Inception, which comes out in July 2010. Hopefully 2010 is a busy year for Mr. Nolan because we need him back behind the camera for the Batman 3!
Pics From The Set Of The Fighter
ComingSoon.net has posted a bunch of pictures from the set of The Fighter (you can view all the pictures by clicking here). The pictures were taken around Tsongas Arena in Lowel, Massachusetts. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Melissa Leo. The Fighter is the true story of “Irish” Mickey Ward (Wahlberg), an underachieving boxer who made a remarkable run to become the Lightweight Champion of the World. His half-brother, Dicky Eklund (Bale), himself a talented fighter who once went the distance with Sugar Ray Leonard, helped train “Irish” Mickey. The Fighter is being directed by David O. Russell (I Heart Huckabees, Three Kings, Spanking The Monkey – the movie, not the actual spanking).
The third picture below is from the website JustJared.com also show Christian Bale on the set. What is this guy doing? The weight fluctuations that he goes through for his movies – from The Machinest to Batman Begins, from Rescue Dawn to The Dark Knight – and now this, are just unbelievable. It cannot be healthy! I enjoy watching Bale act but is this not a bit riduculous? I don’t even think Robert Deniro was this bad! It’s okay to be fat Christian!
The Fighter will be in theatres in 2011.

More John Dillinger
Another cool Public Enemies poster has surfaced from the website Impawards.com. I still like the poster will the full body shot of Depp – just because it’s an excellent poster, not because I like seeing Depp’s entire body – but this one isn’t too bad either. He’s got that great Dillinger smirk going. Check it out below and read our Public Enemies review here.

Amy Adams Joins The Fighter
Amy Adams is in final negotiations to join The Fighter starring Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg.
The movie is based on the true story of Boston fighter “Irish” Mickey Ward (Wahlberg) and tells how he was helped to the world lightweight championship by half-brother Dicky Eklund (Bale). Eklund once went the distance against Sugar Ray Leonard before turning to a life of drugs and crime. He redeemed himself by training Ward through his run to the title. Adams will play Charlene, a tough bartender and former college high-jumper who dates Mickey. Melissa Leo also stars. David O. Russell will direct.
Adams is currently in theaters opposite Ben Stiller in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. She stars later this summer in Julie & Julia with Meryl Streep.
Movie Review: Public Enemies

In Public Enemies, Johnny Depp plays the legendary bank robber John Dillinger, a man who captured the attention of the American public during the years of The Great Depression with his brazen bank robberies, his audacious prison breaks, his impeccable charm and his flashy suits. Dillinger became somewhat of a folk hero but also became the number one objective for J. Edgar Hoover (played by Billy Crudup) and the FBI. Led by its top agent and equally snappy dresser, Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale), and a gang of Texan gunslingers, Hoover and the FBI set out to put an end to the Dillinger gang’s reign of terror on banks all across the United States. Public Enemies tells us a small part of this story. Read more
Movie Review: Terminator Salvation

Terminator Salvation takes us to the year 2018, in the years after Judgement Day, when the robots have taken over the world. An army of Terminators, controlled by the artificial network Skynet, roam the earth, kidnapping and/or killing all humans in sight. Many of the remaining human survivors have banded together to form the Resistance, a desperate group who relentlessly fight the seemingly indestructable machines. Among the survivors is John Connor (Christian Bale), a man whose life goal has always been to save humanity and stop the machines. Unfortunately for Connor, the human casualties just seem to be multiplying and he must find a way to stop Skynet as it continues to evolve and develop new tactics to destroy mankind once and for all. Terminator Salvation also stars Sam Worthington as an ex-con named Marcus Wright, as well as Anton Yelchin, Bryce Dallas Howard, Helena Bonham Carter and many more. Read more
