Four Join Scorsese’s Hugo Cabret

Deadline is reporting that Sacha Baron Cohen, Ben Kingsley, Chloe Moretz and Asa Butterfield will star in Martin Scorsese’s The Invention of Hugo Cabret.
The movie follows Hugo Cabret (Butterfield), a 12-year old orphan who lives in the walls of a Paris train station in 1930. Sacha Baron Cohen will play the station inspector. Kingsley will play real-life silent film director George Melies (who if you look at his IMDb profile directed more than 550 films between 1896 and 1913). Moretz will play Isabelle. The project is based on the children’s book by Brian Selznick.
Sacha Baron Cohen is best known for his Borat and Bruno characters. (Although he’s best known around the Empire Movies offices as Isla Fisher’s significant other.) Kingsley is currently in theaters in Scorsese’s Shutter Island. Chloe Moretz will be in theaters next month in Kick-Ass. Asa Butterfield stars in the upcoming sequel to Nanny McPhee.
Three New Kick-Ass Posters
MTV has debuted three new posters for Kick-Ass from SXSW. The posters, inspired by classic designs, feature Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson), Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz). Why no Nic Cage? Check out the first poster below and give it a click to check out the other two.
Kick-Ass Hit Girl Poster
Empire Online has debuted a new poster for Kick-Ass featuring Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl with the tagline “Cute. Adorable. Deadly.” The movie stars Aaron Johnson as an average teenage comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero named Kick-Ass. The movie also stars Nicolas Cage as Hit Girl’s father, a fellow crimefighter named Big Daddy, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Red Mist and Mark Strong as the film’s villain.

Kick-Ass International Trailer
MSN has a new international trailer for Kick-Ass which gives us a bit of a twist on the old Spidey proverb that “with great power comes great responsibility”. Instead, Kick-Ass tells us that “with no power comes no responsibility”. Which makes sense considering none of the “heroes” possess super powers. Check out the video below:
Synopsis: Kick-Ass tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name — Kick-Ass — assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There’s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers whatsoever.
His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes — including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) — and forges a friendship with another fledgling crimefighter, Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). But thanks to the scheming of a local mob boss Frank D’Amico (Mark Strong), that new alliance will be put to the test.
Kick-Ass opens April 16, 2010.

Red Band Kick-Ass Trailer
Empire (not us) has a new Red Band trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass featuring the Hit-Girl character (played by Chloe Moretz) seen in the poster released last week. The video also gives us a look at Nicolas Cage who plays her father. I’ll warn you, though. If you are offended by hearing some bad language from a little girl, you might want to steer clear of this trailer. Myself, I found it all rather comical. Can’t wait to see this movie! Check out the goods below.
Kick-Ass opens April 2, 2010.
New Kick-Ass Poster
A new poster for Kick-Ass has made its way online via MySpace. This coincides with the first trailer for the movie that was unofficially, then officially, released last night. You can check out that trailer by clicking HERE.
I have to say, this film is slowly creeping up the list to be one of my most anticipated movies of 2010. I haven’t heard anything but good things about it. Hopefully it lives up to the hype!

Teaser For Kick-Ass
The teaser for Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass is online and we’ve got it below courtesy of FirstShowing.net. The movie is getting some great early buzz, from both the Comic-Con footage that was shown in July to the review that recently showed up on AintItCool.com that called the movie “by far the best comic book movie I have ever seen“.
The story centres on a high school nerd with no coordination or athletic ability who decides to becomes a superhero. Check out the first teaser for the movie below.
