When Minority Report was released in New
Zealand, I wasn't overly eager to get down there and see it. I started
to download the trailer off the internet a month or two earlier, and got
quite bored when it looked a little bit too futuristic for my likings.
Yet my likings changed.
I was quite bored that weekend and decided to see a movie. I had a
choice. I could see Scooby-Doo, Snow Dogs, Spirit, Spider-Man (again),
Panic Room, Star Wars Episode II (again) or Minority Report, along with
many others. I decided to see Minority Report, obviously, and wasn't
overly excited, like I normally am to see a good movie.
I quite enjoyed the first scene of the movie, with John Anderton (Tom
Cruise) arresting Howard Marks for pre-murder of his wife and her, ummm,
boyfriend...but soon later came the bit that made me shudder. I was
sitting there cringing at the thought of this man ripping out John's
eyes with this painful machine and I won't say anymore.
What made me enjoy the movie again was the ending. The ending totally
changed my perspective and I have to say, it had a pretty good twist,
yet my mind was still swirling with many different thoughts as I left
the cinema.
I would recommend this movie to anyone who would like to see a damn good
futuristic movie, and if you can handle the fact that Spielberg cast no,
that's right, no, playboy bunnies. Overall, an awesome movie.
