- Hearts in Atlantis |
|
I didn't really want to see Hearts In
Atlantis. As you can probably see by my other reviews, I am not into the
artsy-type films and I had already seen Training Day. However, given the
other choices on a boring Monday night, a crappy NFL game (Lions-Rams)
and declining WWF programming, I decided to give this movie a shot.
I don't really know if I am the right person to review this movie since
I did not head into the theatre in a positive frame of mind. I mean, how
interested do you expect me to be in a movie starring Anthony Hopkins
and a bunch of no-names? I will admit though that is was not as horrible
as expected.
It was a good story, although it left me slightly confused at times (why
were they after him?, shouldn't the mom have expected what happened on
the business trip?, what's an inside straight? - although that one was
eventually answered). The acting was also good - I came away from the
movie being a fan of the young lady who plays Carol Gerber. I notice she
can be seen already in another movie called Riding in Cars with Boys
with Drew Barrymore.
In the end, I am torn as to whether I should recommend Hearts in
Atlantis. It is probably not worth spending $12 on, but if you are into
artsy movies and are looking for a rental in a few months, Hearts in
Atlantis could probably do the job.
