Dumb and Dumberer Movie Review

When you need Bob Saget to get the biggest laughs in your movie, that says something about your movie. It says you've screwed up. And the makers of Dumb and Dumberer screwed up big time. It was just plain awful.

Dumb and Dumberer was the prequel to the 1994 comic genius that was Dumb and Dumber. That one would rank in the top 10 comedies I've probably ever seen. I can still remember the audience laughing out loud through the whole movie. This one would have been lucky to have 2 scenes where the audience was laughing...both with Bob Saget.

Dumb and Dumberer thrusts us back into the '80s when Harry and Lloyd first meet in high school. They are placed in a special needs class on the first day by a crooked high school principal, and the rest of the movie centers around their stupid antics and the principal trying to bilk the school board out of 100 grand by having a special needs class.

Stupid plot to a stupid movie. When I originally read about the prequel, it made me laugh out loud. The description said that Harry and Lloyd were in a special class but trying to make it to "the big show"--regular classes. I thought that was a funny premise. This movie wasn't about that at all.

I don't even blame the actors. I actually didn't think they were that bad in re-creating Harry and Lloyd. Just bad material to work with. The blame must fall solely on the shoulders of the writer and director. May Robert Brener and Troy Miller never be allowed to work in Hollywood again!!

Don't see Dumb and Dumberer, it's just that bad. Burn your money instead. Or go see a Bob Saget stand-up performance. He's about the only thing that got laughs here, so a star for each scene with Bob.
