Blonde 2 Movie Review |
|
In Legally Blonde 2, our blonde heroine,
Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon), packs her pink dresses and takes her
perky attitude to Washington, D.C. to try to get congress to pass a bill
prohibiting animal testing. On the surface, a very courageous act
indeed. Until you realize that she is doing this because the mother of
her pet Chihuahua, Bruiser, cannot attend Elle's wedding because she is
being used by a cosmetic company for testing.
A comical premise to some, a ridiculous situation to others, Legally
Blonde 2 must be taken with a grain of salt. It does a good job of not
taking itself too seriously - there are homosexual dogs for Pete's sake!
But it is not a movie for everyone. A heterosexual male who likes
hockey, fast cars and fast women may not be a fan of the movie. I,
myself, enjoy hockey. Don't like fast cars. The only fast women I know
are the ones who dump my sorry ass very fast.
I thought the movie was okay. Pretty much a replay of the first movie
with a bit more blonde in it and the usual happy ending. I laughed a few
times. Really liked the idea of Elle and her fiancé Emmett (Luke Wilson
- is this guy in every movie? - Legally Blonde, Charlie's Angels, Alex
and Emma!) getting married at home base in Fenway Park in Boston - a
true dream for any sports fan indeed. Thought too many parts of it were
utterly ridiculous (inviting your dog's mother to the wedding?!?). I
also could have lived without all the lawyers and politicians - too much
law and politics can ruin any fun night.
It is pretty much a movie for teeny-boppers or really big fans of Reese
Witherspoon or Bob Newhart. Witherspoon's strong screen presence makes
this movie somewhat palatable but I must warn you - proceed with
caution.
