"The Singing Detective" Review |
I'm falling behind on my sleep, which also means I'm falling a bit behind on my reviews. I was sitting here last night trying to write a review and woke up a couple of hours later with my head slumped on the desk. Tonight, managed to finish my review of The Singing Detective, which you can read here. Now, in the pipeline, we have reviews of The School of Rock (good, but a bit too much for the kids - aka watered-down Jack Black), Wonderland (excellent movie all around) and one I saw tonight, Cold Creek Manor (okay-ish). Plus, if you haven't checked 'em out already, we've added our photos from last night's premieres of In The Cut starring Meg Ryan (here) and the aforementioned School of Rock (here). |

Look's like Brendan scored one of the first online reviews for Underworld!! What did he think? "...there is not too much about this movie that I didn't like...Underworld kicked some major ass...Beckinsale was the most beautiful vampire I have ever laid my eyes on. I could only wish that she would suck my blood..." Click here for the rest of his review! After that, be sure to visit our Message Boards to let us know what you think!! |

"Dogville" & "Underworld" |
This morning, I had the chance to see "Dogville" starring Nicole Kidman. Definitely not your average movie. It almost had me, but instead, it went on too long and lost me in the end. I'll have a review up later tonight. Also in reviews, watch a little later for our review of "Underworld" which Brendan had the chance to see earlier today... Plus, be sure to check back later for pics from the Gala Presentation of The Human Stain. |

"The Human Stain" |
To continue our coverage of the Toronto International Film Festival, this afternoon, I checked out "The Human Stain" starring Sir Anthony Hopkins and Nicole Kidman. The movie is the story of Coleman Silk (Hopkins), a classics professor with a terrible secret that is about to shatter his life... Sounded interesting enough, until I was skimming through a newspaper last night and saw an article on it - where they gave away the secret. Bastards. I won't give it away here, but check back later for my full review... |

"Lost in Translation" |
Here I am at the Toronto International Film Festival. This morning, I had the opportunity to see "Lost in Translation" written and directed by Sophia Coppola and starring Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. Pretty good flick. Great opening shot. It kinda got lost in the middle after a good build-up, but it was all in with the theme of the movie, so it wasn't that bad, leading up to pretty good ending. Overall, a really good movie, probably worth checking out if you have the chance. I'll have my full review online late tonight/early tomorrow. For now, I'm deciding whether I should see The Human Stain (Anthony Hopkins/Nicole Kidman) this afternoon, or whether I should get some pics from the Gala opening of Matchstick Men (Nicolas Cage) later this evening. Choices... Until later... |

Toronto International Film Festival |
This Thursday, the Toronto International Film Festival gets under way right here in our back yard. As we're getting geared up for it, we'd like to thank the good folks at TIFF, who supplied us with a few tickets. But unfortunately, we aren't going to be part of the "official" press for the festival, so, it's that time where we ask anybody out there who is associated with any of this year's films who'd like to see their film covered on our site to contact us. We'd love to hear from you! So naturally, with the festival goings on, news updates on the site will continue, but may be a bit irregular. We will, however, be bringing you daily coverage from the Festival including reviews, pics, and a lot more. So, stay tuned. For more festival information, visit our continuing coverage by clicking here. |
