Steven Spielberg is in talks with Liam Neeson to play president Abraham Lincoln. The long-in-the-works biopic will start production next January. Screenwriter Paul Webb wrote the most recent draft of the script.
The movie will be based on "The Uniter: The Genius of Abraham Lincoln", a biography currently being written by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. That book will be published next fall.
Neeson received a Golden Globe nomination for Kinsey and next appears in "Kingdom of Heaven" and "Batman Begins. He earned an Oscar nomination for playing Oskar Schindler in Spielberg's "Schindler's List".
Other films in Spielberg's future include a long-planned film about the aftermath of the 1972 Munich Olympics, and a fourth Indiana Jones movie. No word on when either of these projects is expected to begin. Spielberg teams with Tom Cruise for "War of the Worlds" this summer.
