Transporter 2

The Movie The Extras Reviewed by

In Transporter 2, Jason Statham returns to the role of Frank Martin. This time around, Frank has retired from the business of transporting dangerous goods for any price to the job of transporting the kid of some rich American family to and from school. (Yeah, it's a long way down.) However, things take a turn when terrorists target this rich American family and kidnap their son. Frank, being the hardass that he is, sets out to save the boy at any cost, kicking mucho ass along the way. The movie also stars Amber Valletta, Matthew Modine as the boy's parents and Alessandro Gassman and Kate Nauta as Frank's formidable foes.

As for special features, all I can really report on are the disc's Deleted and Extended Scenes. In total there are 7 scenes (without commentary) that don't really add anything to the movie besides a little more action. As for the rest of the special features, they are included on the flip-side of the disc, and since the review copy I received had a big "Screening Copy" sticker on the flip-side, I was unable to check them out. For your reference, however, apparently there's a blooper reel, a making-of featurette and a making-of the music featurette.

You don't go into a movie like this to think, so from that perspective the movie was just what I was looking for. A basic plot, some decent car chases, loads of action and the occasional semi-witty one-liner. Jason Statham seems born to lead these movies. But, as much as I enjoy the character, I really can't see it going beyond this chapter without just becoming a joke. Here's hoping Statham can move on to bigger and better things and transport audiences into new an different worlds.
