Based on the life of the Greek-American opera diva Maria Callas (1923-1977), who was considered one of the greatest of all time, this film takes a fictionalized look at Maria's (Teresa Stratas) last days. The story includes a "Faustian" figure (Jeremy Irons) who magically appears in the singer's life and convinces her to make an ill-fated comeback.
