"Hannibal on Hannibal" by Erin Cullin (October 3, 2002) |

It is Saturday, September 14th, and I am
waking up in New York City. This is not just another ordinary Saturday
morning.
You see, I am from a small town in Northern Ontario (in Canada, for
those of you who are not geographically inclined). I don't just
"pop down" to New York City for my own amusement. I am there
for a reason. And that reason is Anthony Hopkins.
Anthony Hopkins is in New York to plug the latest installment in the
Hannibal Lecter trilogy, Red Dragon. I've attended the screening of the
movie the night before - considering that I went into the movie with
mixed expectations, I must admit that I was impressed. But, without a
doubt, the crown jewel of the weekend is my interview with the film's
returning star, Anthony Hopkins.
It is difficult not to be nervous as Sir Anthony enters the interview
room. And I am not the only one. I am at this "round-table"
interview with four other journalists from various online news outlets.
And they are nervous. I can hear them stop breathing as he enters the
room. I even hear one of them mumble, "Oh my God, there's Anthony
Hopkins" under his breath as he comes toward us.
