no. he has to be alive (somehow) - there's no way rowling could be so heartless as to kill him and she must have known how many people think of him as their favourite character (including me!) coz there's hundreds of fan sites for him! nah, he has to be coming back

If he was really really dead, then I reckon Rowling would have made it obvious. Like avada kadavra to the temple or something and them having to bury him etc, not falling behind some stupid veil! Who knows what she has got up her sleave that tricksy lil lady.

i totally agree...everyone thinks he's never coming back and then all of the sudden...there he is to save harry's life...or something like that...then again, maybe that's a little too idealistic...

You also have to factor in that the way he die is pretty weak - 'falling into a hollow mirror... what kind of shit is that?
The only decent way you can get rid of Siruis Black is in battle... this is why a alsp espect him to show up again before the serie finish.

... Oh, and, BTW, my favorite Potter book is Goblet of Fire.

I found the Order of the Phoenix the best because it was surprising and gave suspence that would leed into the final books . like the profecy and the fact that Series had died .

I love all the 6 books but if I really have to pick one, it would be HP and the goblet of fire
the 4th movie was good as well and for me it was the best so far

**contains some major details about events in book 6.

wow, its been a long time since I visited this board... Having read all the books, 1-6 at least twice each (probably more with 1-5, 6 I definately read twice through, once as soon as it came out and again a few months later to try to glean all the "details"), I'd have to say its a close tie between 5 and 6 for my favorite. I loved five because, even though Harry was darker and moodier, and it really was depressing, we found out a lot about the prophecy and what exactly took place to pit Harry against Voldemort. Six, although my favorite character, Dumbledore dies, we really learn a lot about why Voldemort is so evil, and we learn about his "protection" and what is ultimately going to be his downfall.

well, I also like the books 5 and 6 the most, although my beloved serius dies in the 5th, but I like these two because harry and the others are older so the adventures become more and more exciting and dangerous... I also agree with DaisyFay that it was so interesting to know all these information about the prophecy and You Know Who

Order of the Phoenix is still my favorite, but the Potter-Voldemort showdown in The Deathly Hollows is hands-down the best chapter in the whole serie, period.

The worst? The following Epilogue - as useless as learning that Dumbledore was gay.

Even a few days back I would say that I liked the first book best, but now I like the fact that the books have grown alongwith Harry. I like every book for diffferent reasons. I like Philosopher's Stone for the fairy tale quality, Chamber of Secrets for the suspense( though there's a bit of suspense involved in every book, I thought CoS was the most intriguing), Azkaban because it gave us Sirius,GoF for the amazing Priori Incantatem chapter, OotP for the confrontations( though I thought Rowling pulled it a little too long in the Ministry). There were loads of things in the last two books I thought we could do without.
Um- overall, I think Goblet of Fire is my favourite. It has a amazing confrontation all right, but without Harry screaming about it night and day.
And everyone likes the prophecy- but I was expecting Rowling to come up with something a little more original. ALL fiction of this kind ends up being governed by a prophecy.
