Die Hard 4
The lasted word....
Hollywood screenwriter Mark Bomback has been hired to write the script for DIE HARD 4, whatever that will be. Bomback's job was announced today in The Hollywood Reporter but absolutely zero information was given as to the premise of the new HARD. The good news is that Bruce Willis seems to be interested in playing Detective John McClane again; Willis' production company Cheyenne Enterprises is producing DH4.
A few years back (after the release of 1998's ARMAGEDDON) the rumor du jour was that a premise for a new DIE HARD, set in a jungle environment, was floating around and that Bruce wanted his ARMAGEDDON co-star Ben Affleck to star in the film with him. Of course, those plans never came to pass (that is, unless you're from some parallel Earth. If that's you, let us know if it sucked or not.)
Bomback is credited with a rewrite of the CONSTANTINE script as well as full credit on the upcoming Lions Gate supernatural thriller GODSEND.

Here's why bruce has to do die hard 4 courtesy of JoBlo:
quote: Bruce Willis wanted to call one of his films MAN OF WAR. The only problem was, that title was registered by Fox and they weren't giving up the rights so easy. But Willis really wanted to call his movie MAN OF WAR. So Fox said, "OK tough guy, you want the name, you have to agree to star in DIE HARD 4 for us." Willis thought about it, realized he REALLY wants to call his movie MAN OF WAR, and then agreed to star in a fourth DIE HARD film. Fast-forward a few months a Willis inexplicably wound up calling his MAN OF WAR film TEARS OF THE SUN despite the agreement with Fox. The studio wasn't exactly ready to let him out of their agreement however and has begun work on DIE HARD 4. Today it was announced that they've begun work on a new script with Mark Bomback (GODSEND) hired to write a draft. Willis will produce and star in the film, should it ever get off the ground. "Should" is the key word here as you can bet this won't be the only draft of this film commissioned. It took years to get DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE off the ground and eventually it was a script called SIMON SAYS - that originally didn't even feature the John McClane character - that was adapted into a DIE HARD movie and greenlit. But there is some movement, which is great news. And if they want a fourth DIE HARD, they better act quickly cause Bruce ain't gettin any younger...

I totally am looking forward to this, McClane is a totally adaptable character and could live on in multiple films.

USA Today chatted with Bruce Willis, who is gearing up to star in Hostage, about the possibility of another Die Hard film. He says he still plans to revisit the role of tough cop John McClane in Die Hard 4. "We're working on it. Fox wants to do it. I want to do it. It depends on the script," says Willis.
He doesn't go as far as saying that the project, which would be the first Die Hard movie since 1995, is a done deal. "After the first Die Hard, I said I wasn't going to do any more Die Hards, and I did two more. So I don't make predictions anymore. If they get the script right and it seems like an interesting story..."
He adds that "It's hard today to do. The whole Die Hard trilogy so far has been based on some element of terrorism, and it's difficult in today's world to do stories that fictionally portray terrorism."

While speaking to About.com (http:/actionadventure.about.com), Bruce Willis revealed that "Die Hard 4" is currently being written by a screenwriter.
Says Willis, “We’re talking about it. We’re having a contest to come up with the ending. The problem is… I have no idea, what can we do? Have two planets crash into each other? Juggle an asteroid maybe?”

About.com talked to Godsend screenwriter Mark Bomback who is also working on Die Hard 4 for Fox. While he couldn't reveal any plot information, he does talk about the title and the character. Here's several clips.
Is it really being called Die Hardest? It's not going to be called Die Hardest, at least not to my knowledge. I think that it was in development at one point and it might have been called Die Hardest, but it was an entirely different plot. It was a whole different movie. It wouldn't make sense to call this one Die Hardest. Maybe they will, I don't know. There are worst titles in the world. I'll tell you this. On my script pages, it doesn't say Die Hardest.
Is there a different subtitle? We just call it Die Hard 4.
What guidelines were you given? I think the only big mandate was to make it feel like a Die Hard film.

quote: Although still in working title format and the script still being under development it seems certain that the plot will definately involve McClane and his daughter involved in a terrorist plot while on a holiday. The release date is slated for late 2004 filming and a Summer 2005 release provided the script is accepted by both Bruce Willis and director John McTiernan.

There’s some movement on the long-awaited “Die Hard 4”, a studio insider tells Moviehole today.
The previously rumoured-to-be-titled “Die Hard 4: Die Hardest” is now going by the avant-garde title “DH 4.0”.
Screenwriter Marc Bomback, of “Godsend” fame, is off the project and Doug Richardson, the scribe for Willis' latest “Hostage” is on, with a script apparently to be done and dusted within the next 4 months.
Bruce Willis is clearing his schedule for a Spring/Summer 05 shoot. “Die Hard” co-star Reginald Vel Johnson will also appear, back in the guise of cop Al Powell – he too, is currently in talks.
No word on a plot, location or further co-stars as yet.
Word from LA sources give reports of a possible merging of screenplays penned by Ben Trebilcook [“Daisy Scarlett”] and Bomback, with Richardson – who also penned “Die Hard 2: Die Harder” with Steven E. De Souza, as well as the original “Bad Boys” and “Money Train” - sorting them both out.
The fourth “Die Hard” film has been in the works for a couple of years now. Bruce Willis wasn’t so keen at it at one point but seems to have accepted the fact that he’s in dire need of a hit and this might be his best bet. The strongest plot rumour suggests that the film will centre about Cop John McClane (Willis) and his daughter, though that might change with Richardson’s script.

Though for the most part, my opinion is there should never be a movie with "4" in the title Having said that, the first 3 were entertaining and the 4th has potential. It just occured to me I can't remember what the 3rd one was about. I remember the sky scrapers one, and the airport one...but I'm missing one.

The 3rd was when he basically played Simon says with some guy who wanted to rob Fort Knox(sp?) or something like that.

As stated on the front page by Liam
Variety reports that Doug Richardson has been hired by 20th Century Fox to rewrite the latest draft of "Die Hard 4." The film is under supervision by Bruce Willis and his Cheyenne Enterprises partner Arnold Rifkin.

I don't know if I'd like him playing John McClane again after all these years, it'll be so weird. I love the Die Hard movies though, the 3 one was my favorite.

It wouldn't be the same if they got another actor to play John though...

• IT'S HARD TO DIE •
Bruce Willis has been talking about the planned fourth Die Hard film for a while, but only now does it seem something is actually starting to happen. Here's what he had to say; "Doug Richardson, who wrote Hostage, took a shot at Die Hard 4.0 and it's a good idea. The script will be done by summer and they want to shoot it in the fall. McClane's retired, he's not a cop anymore. It's completely different from the other three films. The only one of the other three films that I thought had any merit to it was the first one. Actually, in the third one I think Sam Jackson's work was really strong." He also confirms it "has something to do with computers..."

Live Free or Die Hard
“On July 4th… the choice will be clear… giant stupid robots… or John McClane!”
In case you haven't seen the teaser yet...
Click here to check it out at FirstShowing.net.
'Kinda feel sorry for Transformers - that film haven't got a chance now!
Oh, and what's up with Justin Long and computers anyway?!

you are actually right about transformers... live free or die hard rocks... the teaser trailer is soo cool. and to be honest, i think only such movies fits Willis, i didn't like him much in 16 blocks (that old police officer) but THIS, this is Willis
and Long... i know, i also never imagined him out of movies such as Herbie or Dreamland but give him a chanc mighty, maybe he will do good

Die Hard 4 - Live Free or Die Hard
This is a film i am syked to see cos ive always been a fan of the die hards.
Teaser trailer looks really good but only thing i'm not to sure about is the fact that justin long is in this. I have nothing against him but i just think he better not be a comic relief character like ryan reynolds in blade trinity cos he was fucking annoying.
All this film needs is bruce willis and some terrorists, thats it!!
