The Land of the Dead
Simon Baker ('Ring 2'), John Leguizamo ('Spawn') and Dennis Hopper ('Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2') are joining Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg ('Shaun of the Dead') in The Land of the Dead, George A. Romero's return to the zombie genre that he made famous, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Asia Argento and Robert Joy also are joining the cast. Written and directed by Romero, the story takes place in a world overrun by zombies where the survivors live in a walled city. While the zombies are evolving, certain factions seek to overthrow the city. The film is meant to complement Romero's earlier zombie movies, "Night of the Living Dead," "Dawn of the Dead" and "Day of the Dead," and also start a new line of zombie films. Universal Pictures is distributing domestically and internationally via negative pickup. 'Land' hits theaters October 21st 2005.

Asia Argento is so fine. I'm glad Romero got her. She's a director too, like her father Dario Argento.

Intelligence might be an evolution, but that would take away what zombies are i guess. It'd be cool though, having some intelligent zombies going around, surprisngly finding their way into places and jumping out on people, ripping them up.
Then again some sort of evolution in their abillity, running zombies!!! haha, sorry I won't start all that sh*t again.
Na having them run wouldn't be wise and it'd rip off the remake obviously. Maybe they ought to be stronger?
I'm interested in what they can come up with.
It's all coming from the master himself so who knows.

I think this'll do worlds for a genre that's so deep in shit right now. With crappy horror flicks coming in by the boatloads, it'll be nice to see one and know beforehand that it won't suck major ass.

I finally watched all three films.
So good, but I like them in the order they were made.
I hope this one is at least better than Day of the Dead, which is the weakest link, I think.

^ Day Of The Dead is definately the weak link but still DAMN cool. Ever since Land of the Dead was announced I have been trying to put it out of my head because it drive me crazy to think about it. I absolutely love all of Romero's dead films, they are some of my favorite horror movies ever('Dawn' more specifically). The premise for this is great. A walled city, cvolved zombies, military technology, it all should tie together real well as a contuation of the original trilogy. The fact that John Leguizmo is in is a plus, I love that guy for Luigi and Clown. Can't wait for this flick.

I wonder if people will be honest in their assesment of this film, and if it does suck then will people shut up about having Romero direct every horror and zombe movie announced?

It was dismissed, thank god, think it looks like crap. So far this movie looks kind of generic, and I dont buy that cut version for theatres, uncut for DVD shit, look at Dawn of the Dead, good story and nice gore.

I hope you're not talking about the new Dawn of the Dead?
That poster shows off a few aspects of the film. That's why I like it.

I am talking the new one, if only for the whiners that will complain Romero had to cut scenes, to show some gory violence is capable in movies. The new Dawn had some nice gory scenes in it, so it is possible.

Seriously, this is the best bit of news I have heard all year - Romero's back and he's about to show us all what a true zombie flick looks like.
I've heard that he couldn't find a decent budget to make this one happen, but, after looking at the cast, I guess the studios finally decide to support him - it's about time, you dumb morons!
Release date before Halloween 2005... How the hell this flick cannot be money?

I can see this being bad by the output Romeo has had over the years, which is basically zilch boundary breaking wise, dude comes off cranky and resentful in interviews.
