What do you get when you cross Jenny
McCarthy, a whole bunch of actors I've never heard of and a format
storyline all wrapped up in a movie with the title of a Queen song?
Well... not as horrible a movie as you might think.
I must say that when I received "Crazy Little Thing" to
review I was not looking forward to it. It did not look even remotely
like a movie I would like and I started watching it with a I-can't-wait-to-trash-this-piece-of-shit-movie
attitude. When it was over I found myself looking back and still
laughing at some parts of it.
"Crazy Little Thing" is a romantic comedy about a guy (Chris
Eigeman) and a girl (Jenny McCarthy) and the trials and tribulations
of their twenty-something sex lives. It incorporates the technique
where both talk to the camera a la Ferris Bueller or Hi-Fidelity to
great affect and I found it added quality to the story (reminded my a
lot of 'Sex in the City'). The storyline is basic as well, tracing
their individual lives and how fate brings them together over a long
period of time with the typical initial animosity. I usually don't
like romantic comedies because they are usually hokey and have happy
endings and there's nothing I hate more than a happy ending but this
one was somehow different.
This movie has some great sex jokes and situations with the right
amount of vulgarity to make me laugh out loud at least a few times. In
my opinion it makes for a great date movie as both the female and male
sides are equally represented. It's not by any means a cinematic
masterpiece but if you're looking for a movie that you and your
significant other will both find amusing then it is worth a gander.
As far as the special features are concerned this movie is greatly
lacking. The only extra you will find are filmographies for Jenny
McCarthy, Chris Eigeman, and the two producers. For a movie like this
I didn't really expect more.
