A fatal attraction for teens is how Swimfan tries to market itself in its own promos. After a one-night stand with the new student Madison (Erika Christensen), Ben (Jesse Bradford) ends up having his life turned upside down by her.

Swimfan is a mediocre movie at best. There were parts of the movie I didn't really buy, like why Ben would cheat on his girlfriend (Shiri Appleby), who they set up as so important in his life, without a real explanation other than he has trouble saying no. Plus, Shiri is way hotter than Erika, in my opinion. And Madison's whole motivation for her behaviour wasn't really explained either.

As far as extras, there is a featurette about the "Girlfriend from Hell", basically giving us comments from the principles of the movie about Madison and her psycho behaviour. Not that interesting. There are 10 deleted/extended scenes, with optional commentary from director John Polson. Polson tells us how he loved all the scenes and the reasons they were shortened. Finally, there is a commentary featuring Polson, Christensen and Bradford. They manage to not have any silent moments in the commentary, with Polson giving informative tips about Swimfan and Bradford trying to crack jokes about everything going on.

Swimfan isn't really that creepy for the thriller that it's supposed to be. Maybe it works better on a teen audience. From now on, I think I will be sticking to the raunchy comedies when it comes to teen flicks.

The Movie: 4.5/10
The Extras: 5/10

Recommendation: See It If It's Free
