When I originally saw the trailers for Freaky Friday, it didn't really pique my interest. It just seemed like another typical flick designed for teenage girls, like The Princess Diaries and the seemingly endless string of Mandy Moore movies out the last few years. However, after watching it on DVD, I have to admit I enjoyed Freaky Friday. It's got more laughs than another recent body-switching comedy, Rob Schnieder's unfunny The Hot Chick. Also, the performances of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan help carry this movie.

Dr. Tess Coleman (Curtis) is constantly fighting with her teenage daughter Anna (Lohan)--over her school work, her fledging rock band, the boys she likes. After a mystical Chinese fortune cookie switches Tess & Anna's bodies, they are forced to see things from the other's prospective. They must gain a new respect and understanding for each other in order to jump back to their own bodies, and also before they ruin their lives--Tess is about to get married and Anna has a potential big break for her band and a potential new love interest with her crush.

The movie is presented in 5.1 Surround Sound and is THX-Certified. It has the option of widescreen (1.85:1 ratio) or full screen (1.33:1) viewing.

The features on the Freaky Friday disc are surprisingly sparse. There is no audio commentary and just one deleted scene that helped to wrap up a side plot in the movie. There are two alternate endings, both of which are similar and are just to help set up a potential sequel. Both the deleted scene and the alternate endings are set up by director Mark Waters.

There are two music videos for songs featured in the movie--"What I Like About You" by Lillix and "Me vs. The World" by Halo Friendlies. There are previews for other Disney movies appearing on DVD and in theatres. There is a brief blooper reel called "Freaky Bloopers". The most interesting feature is a behind-the-scenes featurette called "Backstage Pass With Lindsay Lohan". While only a brief 7 minutes, we get to follow Lindsay around where we see how well she gets along will all of her co-stars, especially Jamie Lee Curtis.

While the DVD is lacking in features, Freaky Friday should do the trick for some clean, family fun. It's the kind of movie you can sit and watch with your parents and you'll both get some good laughs.

The Movie:  7/10
The Extras:  3/10
