Biker Boyz is set in the underground world of California motorcycle racing. Smoke (Laurence Fishburne) is the undisputed 'King of Cali', with over 200 straight wins. A freak accident ends up killing his mechanic, Slick Will, devastating Smoke. Six months after, Will's son Kid (Derek Luke) emerges on the racing scene with all the talent in the world but a hot-shot attitude to go with it. He starts his own gang of hot-shot racers known as the Biker Boyz, with Kid's ultimate goal being to take down Smoke and become King of Cali.

I've heard people call Biker Boyz dumb, predictable, trying to be like Fast and the Furious on bikes...maybe that is all true. But in the end, it still entertained me. I always enjoy Fishburne, Luke is pretty decent and a supporting cast including Orlando Jones, Kid Rock and Brendan Fehr seem to all mesh well. There are some cool biking stunts, and the story itself is no worse than the previously mentioned Fast and the Furious.

As for the extras, the best would be an interesting documentary hosted by Orlando Jones describing the making of the film, while introducing us to real bike gangs from California, including the real King of Cali. The production notes for the film also provide some cool tidbits about making of the movie. There are also some deleted scenes (with no commentary), cast & crew bios and a photo gallery. There is no commentary with the DVD.

If you're expecting to see a high caliber movie, don't waste your time. But if you're looking to pass a couple hours and probably be entertained, you could do a lot worse than Biker Boyz.

The Movie: 5/10
The Extras: 5/10
