Wow!! That is the first thing that comes to my mind after watching the first season of 24. It pretty much grabs you by the seat of your pants and takes you on a ride that seems to keep going and going.

24 is the events that happen in the span of one day in Los Angeles on the day of the California Presidential primary. When a plot is discovered that puts the life of the leading candidate in jeopardy, it is up to the government's Counter-Terrorist Unit, and specifically the head of the unit Jack Bauer to uncover and stop any attempt on the candidate's life.

When I first heard of 24, I thought it would just be a gimmick show and not of much interest for me. Hell, even after I got the DVDs, it took me about 3 months before I mustered up the interest to put them in. But once I did, I didn't want to stop for any reason. I found myself yelling at the TV at some points. Boy, I've really got to get a life and not get into these things so much. I even considered calling in sick to work so I could keep watching. (I hope none of my bosses read this review!!)

The extras on 24 are weak. There is an alternate ending, with an optional commentary. There is also an introduction to 24 by the series' star, Keifer Sutherland, which is on the last disc. How lame.

While it's probably only exciting for a one-time viewing, 24 is still a must-own DVD. It's probably even better on DVD than TV, because you can watch as many episodes in a row as you want. I can barely wait for season 2 to come out this fall.

The Movie: 9.5/10
The Extras: 1/10

Recommendation: One For The Library
