A surprisingly effective movie here.
With a relatively simple and predictable plot, the heart of the movie
relied more on some emotionally potent performances. But overall, it
really was the film-making which held it together. Though scene
selections seemed disjointed at times, they managed to make each one
of some interest, resulting in an extremely polished film.
In terms of extras, this disc contained a decent behind-the-scenes
featurette, eleven deleted scenes (including what I considered a
stronger ending) with optional commentary, an amusingly awkward
Charlie Rose interview, a featurette on editing, three cast
interviews, the theatrical trailer and two trailers for other Fox
films (or as they like to call them, Fox Flix). There was also a
detailed commentary by director Adrian Lyne as well as several
scene-specific ones from stars Diane Lane and Olivier Martinez.
Forget the crap in the first paragraph. Diane Lane is still hot and
was what made this flick really work.
