Ahh, the latest Jet Li acrobatic martial arts show. Add the sci-fi spin and we get super-duper Jet Li! Of course one needs to overlook the overall premise, but man, this has got to be the most 'plot-hole'-laden one yet. Expected as that may be, it is extremely difficult to overlook this time around. Oh well, at least we get a lot of kung fu mayhem right? Wrong. Though indeed the coolest thing here is a computer effects enhanced Jet Li facing off against himself, we simply just don't get enough. One climactic end battle, that's it. In fact, we don't even get that much of Jet Li fighting anyone at all. Instead, there's just a lot of gun play. What gives?

For extras, we get three decent making-of featurettes. One deals with the actors while the other two focus on technical issues. There is also a brief look at the many costumes our star dons, as well as the trailer, filmographies, and a neat little animatic comparison with the final film. The commentary, provided by director James Wong, production designer David Snyder, cinematographer Robert McLachlan and editor James Coblentz isn't too technical and gives a fair bit of insight. A nice touch is having the different voices separated on different audio channels. However, this is all wasted since they aren't balanced with one another and leave you straining to hear half the time.

While there's a lack of action from what I'm used to, it's still a fun, albeit short, ride.

The Movie: 4/10
The Extras: 3/10

Recommendation: See It If It's Free
