Like most, I loved the original three. While I didn't line up for it opening night, I did greatly anticipate this one at the theaters. I gotta say, if it wasn't Star Wars, I would have been mildly disappointed. I didn't hate Jar Jar like many others. I just dismissed him as a kids character since they were obviously trying to enchant yet another generation. The pod race however, I found a total bore, especially it's build-up. I have only watched this movie twice, once in the theater and once at home. I fell asleep both times when it got to that part. On the bright side, most of the computer graphics were top notch (except for that droid army, something just not right about it). The cast gave terrific performances and in true Star Wars fashion, the final battles were absorbing.

Packaged in a two-disc set, included here are a bundle of 'the making of' featurettes. These include an hour long documentary, a twelve part web series, and five other short ones. While some shared the same footage and presented overlapping ideas, they were none-the-less interesting to the fan. The seven deleted scenes were also a treat as they had been completed with this DVD in mind. A nice touch was also putting them in a formal presentation for the viewer. The commentary by writer/director George Lucas and company was informative and well submitted with subtitles showing who exactly was speaking and also having the voices localized to different audio channels in order to avoid confusion. Other extras found were a "Duel of the Fates" music video, a "Star Wars: Starfighter - The Making of a Game" featurette, two storyboard-to-animatic-to-film sequences, and photo galleries of behind-the-scenes as well as promotional materials.

They put together a great DVD package for just an average film...but hey, its Star Wars!

The Movie: 7/10
The Extras: 10/10

Recommendation: Rent This One
