Audio Commentary by Director John Frankenheimer, Actor Gene
Hackman, Production Stills, Storyboards, Three Theatrical
Trailers
|
The follow-up to the Oscar winning
predecessor was not as successful, and I can see why. While the
original was based on reality, this one seemed far-fetched with many
confusing plot points. Containing little action, the film crawled in
the middle when it was dialogue driven. Of course the performances
were good but the material held it back with little to no
characterization.
As for bonus material, we were treated to a behind-the-scenes gallery,
a storyboard gallery and theatrical trailers. There were also two
commentary tracks. While John Frankenheirmer's was faintly informative
hindered by a boring movie, the one by Gene Hackman and Producer
Robert Rosen was almost non-existent, filled with long pauses of
silence. It begged the question, "Why Bother?".
Boring film, boring bonus materials. Just boring.
