This film was only superficially good. A decent premise and unique scenic visuals were what secured my attention. But once the core story was established, things quickly went downhill. While characters individually seemed interesting, neither they nor their scenes were reasonably fleshed out. Too many motivations went unexplained which lead to plenty of confusion. By the time the conclusion rolled around, it was all a complete mess.

There were a lot of uninteresting supplements on this DVD. These consisted of, a quick and useless making-of featurette, nine bland deleted scenes, cast and crew information, four trailers, ten TV spots, an All Saints music video, a soundtrack promo, and several storyboards. There was also a slightly informative commentary from director Danny Boyle which had spots of silence all the way through.

While the island paradise was captured on film well, the plot certainly wasn't.

The Movie: 4/10
The Extras: 2/10

Recommendation: See It If It's Free
