Unexpected were a nice touch of comedy at the beginning and some dramatic moments near the end which worked wonderfully in enhancing the more electrifying scenes. But of course it was the spectacular thrills which rewarded those who kept their focus on the screen. And what sold the thrills were hugely intense build ups which raised the level of suspense to near unbearable heights. However, all wasn't perfect here. The time spent creating characters and setting up payoffs were borderline boring, only kept afloat by an uneasiness inherent to the plot. Comparatively, perhaps the earlier parts were just a victim of this movie's successes.

Extras on this DVD consisted of a terrific "making of" documentary, five deleted scenes (without commentary), a look at an early film by writer/director/producer M. Night Shyamalan, and two multi-angle storyboard comparisons. No commentary track.

While earlier acts suffered slightly, the final one compensated more than enough to satisfy.

The Movie: 8/10
The Extras: 5/10

Recommendation: Rent This One
