Commentary with Director Sam Mendes, HBO’s "Making
of" Documentary, Deleted Scenes, Photo Gallery, Production
Notes, Booklet
|
A stunningly composed film and
reminiscent of director Sam Mendes's earlier film, I really couldn't
help but enjoy it. Every detail on screen was so deliberate, each
moment determined to keep one's focus. Plot-wise, the story was modest
and generally straight forward. Effective, but nothing extraordinary.
The same could be said of most aspects of this film, though one
character in particular seemed overly contrived, but still tolerable.
A nice take in a proven genre.
This DVD contained the usual extras. These included ten hit-and-miss
deleted scenes (with optional commentary), cast and crew information,
production notes and a stills gallery. An nice commentary from Mendes
discussed in detail the making of the film. Also worthy of mention
were subtitle tracks in various languages to go along with the
commentary.
A conventional gangster flick, told with an eye towards the visuals.
