Making-Of Featurette, Filmmaker Interviews, Deleted Scenes,

Well, I wasn't expecting much from this
film since my tastes in comedies are either low-brow or 'clever
dialogue' pieces. This movie consists of physical stunts and
outrageous characterizations. However, I found myself enjoying it
anyway for some unknown reason. Perhaps it was the story which just
came across as being "cute". Or maybe it was that no one
particular character had too much screen time. Or perhaps it's due to
nice work by a great ensemble of comedians. I don't know. In any case,
I slowly found myself enjoying it more the longer I watched.
Now to the extras. The usual fare consisting of deleted scenes and a
behind-the-scenes featurette which were both done quite well. There's
also a rather dull interview clip with director Jerry Zucker and
writer Andy Breckman. A pretty amusing set of outtakes are also added
as well as an entertaining section where Zucker and Breckman end up
phoning up the cast rather than doing a commentary track (since they
found themselves incredibly boring). Of note, I felt the layout of the
DVD was playful and in touch with the tone of the film. Oh yeah - the
theatrical trailer can also be found on the disc.
Though not laugh-out-loud funny, many scenes will put a smile on your
face and should appeal to a very broad audience, including those as
finicky as myself.
