Making-Of

It is always tough for spoofs to hold
strong over the years and that's certainly the case here. With it's
original release over a decade ago, this movie's satirical nature as
well as the topical humor may be lost to some. That said, plenty of
timeless silliness was still to be found. And of course there's that
absurd quality that director/writer Jim Abrahams consistently brings
to his works. That actually was a problem for me since I sometimes
felt it was just a little too outlandish. Heavy on sight gags and
slapstick, the jokes were generally tame by today's standards. I
couldn't help but feel that it harkened back to a different age of
comedy.
Almost a bare bones disc. There was just a short semi-amusing
making-of featurette and a few trailers (for this movie and other
recent Fox offerings). No commentary track.
These jokes were not sophisticated in any way. Acceptance of them
required the proper prospective.
