This could have been one of my favorite
movies of all time, had it not put me to sleep. With the exception of
the opening heist sequence, the first hour was a total bore with one
dialogue scene after another. Luckily, the pace picked up after that
and we got more police drama and some gunplay. In fact, this movie
contained the best 'cops vs. robbers' shootout I've ever seen. The
plot was also outstanding and though elaborate, not overly so to
become unbelievable. As billed, there were some fantastic
performances, which played a big part towards realism. My only other
qualm had to do with the ending. It just didn't seem grand enough with
which to conclude the movie.
Be disappointed if you wanted bonus material. All that was here were
three trailers. Not even a commentary track.
I could have lived without the in-depth character studies, but I'll
still consider it as one of the finest crime sagas on film.
