Boy, the trailer made this movie look
funnier. Too bad a few of those clips got cut from the final version.
What's left was nevertheless pretty enjoyable, but as a much lighter
comedy than I was expecting. With a solid premise, there were still
plenty of cute and funny scenes. Plot predictability became a problem
but fortunately scenes never became too boring while heart was being
embedded into the main characters. Though by the end, I couldn't help
but feel the movie ran a bit too long.
This special edition came with a decent making-of featurette, a cute
gag reel, twenty-two generally uninteresting deleted scenes, and the
theatrical trailer for this and 'The Princess Bride' DVD. Director
David Mirkin provided one slightly informative commentary track that
was thankfully brightened with his humor. Then he again, along with
stars Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt were featured on a
second even more amusing track.
You'll wear a smile throughout since there were quite a number of
laughs, but most were not worthy of more than a chuckle.
