This sequel really was a smart departure from it's predecessor. Differences, which weren't necessarily bad, laid in the details. Here, less attention was paid to them which resulted in perhaps an unattainable suspension of disbelief. But by doing so, several big-time scenes benefited with extra built-in tension. Unfortunately, much of the filler between the excitement was light on substance and only kept afloat through some subtly fancy visuals. I'll go as far as saying that the style, more than anything, kept this movie entertaining as a whole. That's not to take anything away from this wonderful cast, who each performed quite well. It's just that the movie peaked midway and didn't carry quite as much punch in the end. Still, it did deliver what it promised, more of everyone's favorite psychopath.

This DVD set consisted of two discs. The second contained a lengthy and well produced making-of featurette, fourteen interesting deleted scenes, three multi-angle sequences (dealing with a movie scene, the opening titles, and storyboards), a teaser trailer, a theatrical trailer, nineteen TV spots, a bunch of proposed posters, a huge collection of photos, cast and crew information, and production notes. Disc one had the movie itself, a trailer for Silence of the Lambs, a trailer for Windtalkers, and an only slightly informative commentary track from director Ridley Scott.

Without the forerunner, this one would have been mediocre. But with it, we got something different but effective.

The Movie: 7/10
The Extras: 4/10

Recommendation: Rent This One
