What a great movie. I laughed, I
cried.....well, not really, but it sounded like the right thing to
say. I need not say too much about the movie since I am sure you all
know about how wonderful this charming film turned out when it was
first released.
The extras included on this two disc set were pretty good, but nothing
we have not seen before. There were two commentary tracks with one
involving director Robert Zemeckis. While slightly insightful, there
were quite a few times where he and his crew of commentators had
nothing to say and left us with silence. Not good in my book. The
other track was a solo by producer Wendy Finerman. She had even more
silence and of course, less insight. Other extras included a pretty
good "Through the Eyes of Forrest Gump" (a making-of
documentary), some entertaining screen tests, a bunch of
semi-interesting production featurettes, a short and bland photo
gallery, and a pair of theatrical trailers.
Two words: charisma and sentimentality.
