While trying to be, this movie was
decidedly not 'Ghost Busters'. It's got the action science fiction-y
feel with the ridiculous science, but kind of missed on the comedy
front. There were cute scenes good for a chuckle, but nothing that
really stood out. To be honest, I really don't know why this film did
not work, it just didn't. On a brighter note, the computer special
effects were decent and reminiscent of 'Men In Black'. On a less
bright note, the aliens all seemed out of place within their scenes.
While they looked great, they just didn't seem to blend into their
environments. But hey, not being a serious film, I wouldn't hold it
too much against them.
Just your standard fare as bonuses on the DVD. Some rather plain
deleted scenes and a behind-the-scenes featurette, as well as some
storyboard comparisons. There was however, a great ensemble commentary
track with the three male leads and director Ivan Reitman. At least
they enjoyed the film.
I found this film lacked a focused comedy tone throughout. Or maybe it
just lacked a Bill Murray.
