This great sequel pretty much carried on
where the original left off. A slight change in formula as this time
it was even less of a spy spoof, building more on its own brand of
humor. Of course, huge laughs were still generated from clever word
manipulation and hilariously cheeky sight gags. But unlike the first
film which focused heavily on two roles for comedy, this time, a few
more outrageous characters popped up and stole the show. While
admittedly, I tired of their thing after a while, they were genius
initially. How do they come up with this stuff?
For supplements, this DVD included, a decent behind-the-scenes
featurette, twenty-one enjoyable but commentary-less deleted scenes,
three music videos (from Madonna, Lenny Kravitz and Mel B), cast and
crew filmographies with video clips of those with cameos, two teaser
trailers, and two theatrical trailers (one for this and one for it's
predecessor). An advertised commentary was nowhere to be found on the
disc. As a hidden bonus, there was also an utterly delightful Comedy
Central special as well as some funny text on classic spy villains.
Revisiting old gags and throwing some new ones in worked exceptionally
and provided plenty of humor.
