Theatrical Trailers
This film slowly and quietly crept up on
the viewer, eventually seizing complete focus. Never overbearing, it
competently described a fairly touching plot. But with no flashiness,
this character drama did find itself a few dull moments. Luckily by
the end, the compelling nature of the shared experience won out,
leaving behind a sense of approval.
Contained on the DVD were three short featurettes, made interesting
due to how this movie came about. The interesting "Meeting
Antwone Fisher" and "Hollywood and the Navy" segments
felt like extensions of the general behind-the-scenes one, which
itself was a worthwhile watch. Trailers for other Fox films were also
found on the disc. A decent commentary track, provided by
director/actor/producer Denzel Washington and producer Todd Black
nicely shed light on the filmmaking choices they had made.
A strong film, bolstered by it's tagline - "Inspired by a true
story".
