As one in the first wave of films to
seemingly take advantage of a computer generated adversary, I suppose
it did blaze some sort of trail. Though upon closer inspection, this
monster movie's title character wasn't even digitally rendered all
that often. A not quite kosher looking mechanical puppet appeared in
it's stead at times and unforgivably corrupted the illusion. On a
brighter note, there was a decent attempt here at some B-movie
tension. It wasn't laid on thick, but with just enough to keep
momentum going. And overall, it indeed was as fun as you'd expect from
a cheaper popcorn flick
Presented in it's original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1, the Superbit quality is
fantastic, as you might expect. Similarly, the audio (presented in two 5.1 tracks - Dolby Digital and DTS) is outstanding.
However, as with most Superbit titles, there are no extras.
Despite the disc's high quality, as someone not squeamish about
snakes, this just came off as just another action flick with weak
monster scares.
