Yeah, I laughed my ass off. Bringing
back the old gang meant not wasting time with introductions and
getting right to it. And of course, this time there's more Stifler and
consequently, more laughs. Now in this unrated version, I really
didn't notice anything new or different from the version I saw at the
theater. I suspect the extra material came in the form of extended
scenes throughout the film, but I'm not sure. Still, unrated or not, I
found it funnier than the original, which that is saying a lot.
Whoa, there is a tonne of extras and all on one disc. This may have
come at the expense of disc quality since I did notice some
performance glitches. But anyhow, here's the rundown. There's a great
making-of featurette, two very fun gag reels, some deleted scenes, a
review of the fans' top ten favorite scenes, an option to jump to
musical cues in the movie, and a look at six casting tapes. Some of
the more dull extras included, a revisiting of fifteen lines from the
movie, a music video, the movie's trailer (with an amusing intro),
production notes, and cast and crew info. And as usual, Universal
always seems to throw in their own promotional spots. In this case,
their theme parks, the soundtrack, and a trailer for The Borne
Identity. For commentaries, there were four. One from director J.B.
Rogers provided some nice insight, especially when telling us where
the unrated stuff came into play. Another from writer Adam Herz was
just OK as he did provide some interesting tidbits, but also some
empty ones. An ensemble one from actors Jason Biggs, Thomas Ian
Nicholas and Mena Suvari focused more on their hi-jinks and gave the
impression they had plenty of fun. The forth commentary track was a
solo from actor Eddie Kaye Thomas, which was an odd choice since he
appeared in maybe only a quarter of the film. That being the case, he
didn't really have much to say, but when he did, it's not really as
anecdotal as one might expect. As a side note, the DVD-Rom extras,
which I normally dismiss, are quite good here and truly are a nice
bonus.
With all the zany characters back for this sequel, we got to enjoy yet
another ride, laughing all the way.
