There's one thing that bothers me about "Overnight Delivery" and it's this. I've seen this movie before and I can't, for the life of me, remember when or where. Watching the movie, that's all I could think, but I still can't remember. I usually remember these things. Am I losing it? That being said, I still enjoyed the movie as much as I did the first time - whenever that was.
"Overnight Delivery" stars Paul Rudd as Wyatt Trips and a younger (and brunette) Reese Witherspoon, back before she hit it big as a blonde. As the story goes, Trips finds out that his girlfriend (Christine Taylor - aka Mrs. Ben Stiller) has cheated on him with "The Ricker". So, he goes to a strip club with some friends to whine about his misfortune and meets an exotic dancer named Ivy (Witherspoon) who helps him send his girlfriend a nasty letter via overnight delivery. The next morning, however, he discovers that he may have been wrong, and he sets out with Ivy's help to try and stop the package from reaching it's destination. Comic misadventures ensue - and of course they fall in love.
I rather enjoyed this movie - both times - mostly for Reese Witherspoon. I can still remember the very first time I saw her back in 1991 when she starred in "Man in the Moon". She just made a really strong impression, and I've loved her ever since. She's probably the reason why I saw this movie in the first place. Paul Rudd wasn't too bad either. He's got a good romantic comedy thing going on, and I've always wondered why he hasn't been more successful. He almost reminds me of John Cusack. Strangely, this movie reminded me of "The Sure Thing" (which coincidentally starred Cusack).
Unfortunately, there are no extras included with this DVD.
So, if you're a fan of Reese Witherspoon, and want to check out some of the work she did before she went legally blonde, pick up "Overnight Delivery". Nothing too serious, just a fun road trip romantic comedy with enough laughs and heart to satisfy.
