Not sure if this is called a sequel to The Talented Mr. Ripley with Matt Damon that came out a few years ago, but it is another film adaptation from the series of books with the Tom Ripley character by author Patricia Highsmith.
Ripley's Game stars John Malkovich as Tom Ripley, who is a manipulator of people to suit his own gains and decides to do so by persuading an innocent man to commit a murder for money. When the man (played by the once-cast Wolverine Dougray Scott) actually succeeds, it creates a web of troubles for both of them as he cannot break from the crime ring he has now entered. The film takes a while to get going, but once it does it is fairly intriguing. Tom Ripley is a confusing character in the sense that the viewer is not sure to hate him or like him. He is at times a despicable man, yet you want to see what he does next, and hope that it isn't anything bad. This is a good movie that does not have unrealistic violence, which makes it exciting and suspenseful to watch. May not be a film to watch more than once, but once is worthwhile.
There are no special features along the lines of making-of featurettes or even an audio commentary. There are only some DVD-ROM features and a selection of trailers. Nothing attention-catching.
