Based on a true story in 1932, Invincible refers to a Jewish strongman from Poland (played by Jouko Ahola) who is asked to go to Berlin to be part of an exhibition show of people with above normal human powers. The host of the show Hanussen (played by Tim Roth) is a psychic/hypnotist and advises the strongman, Zishe Breibart to conceal his Jewish heritage and pretend he is of the Arian race because no German will accept that a Jew could be that strong. Breibart initially agrees, but eventually feels the need to stand up and reveal himself. Thus, begins the fall of Hanussen's show.

Invincible is what you might call an 'artsy film' and would therefore not receive mainstream recognition, which is too bad. Touching, painful and ultimately defeating, Invincible is a film that may bring a sense of hopelessness after watching the film. It shows the beginning of the anti-semitism in Germany and how one Jewish man with extraordinary strength tried to convince his people to stand up to the Germans. Not seeing the danger, the Jews Breibart speaks to discard his warnings and believe that they are not a threat to Germans. As history depicts though, the Jewish would ultimately feel the influence of the Germans.

The DVD offers only a theatrical trailer and some DVD-ROM material. Image and sound quality are not notable. In fact, some of the dialogue is so low, it sounds like mumbling and is difficult to hear.

The DVD quality is below par, and there are no special features, but the quality of the film makes up for these faults twice over. Invincible is an excellent movie.

The Movie: 8/10
The Extras: 1/10
