The fourth season of Lost picks up with information revealed in the seaon three final. SOME people have left the island. We know that Jack and Kate are two of the survivors. Season Four fills in the blanks of who makes up the famed "Oceanic Six". We learn the fates (sorta) of the remaining 815 passengers and inhabitants of the the island. Jack and Locke compete for island leadership. Ben is up to his old tricks. The freighter people reveal their real reason for visiting the island. And the season ends pretty much again where we left off -- ith Jack telling Kate that "We have to go back!". Only this time we learn part of the reason why with the finale's big reveal. And, much like the series' previous finales, we're left with more questions than answers. Yet I keep watching. I love this show.

NOW, I'm not going to say that the show doesn't have flaws. As I mentioned, for every answer, there are a couple of new questions. The battle between Jack and Locke is getting a little redundant. And the love story between Sawyer/Kate and Jack/Juliet is just another complication to an alreay complicated show. But, the bottom line is that the questions raised are compelling enough to continue drawing audiences. Just watching an episode like this season's Desmond-centric "The Constant" is worth watching the entire season.

This six-disc set includes 14 episodes on 4 discs (originally planned to be 16 but reduced due to the writers strike) and 2 discs worth of bonus features.

The first bonus disc includes:

"Lost on Location" - Located here you'll find behind-the-scenes featurettes for 8 of the season's episodes

"The Island Backlot: Lost in Hawaii" - This 18-minute extra looks at filming the series on location in Hawaii.

"The Right to Bear Arms" - Looks at all of the guns used in the series and how the producers keep track of which character has which gun.

"Soundtrack of Survival" - This extra runs more than 26 minutes and looks at composing the music for the show.

"Lost Bloopers" - Nearly 3 1/2 minutes of bloopers from Season Four.

"Deleted Scenes" - Included here are 9 deleted scenes from this season.

The second bonus disc includes:

"Course of the Future: The Definitive Flash Forwards" - This extra runs just under an hour and pretty much puts the pieces of the flash-forward puzzle in sequential order. If you're having trouble figuring out what happened when once the Oceanic Six got off the island, this is what you need to watch.

"The Oceanic Six: A Conspiracy of Lies" - This "mock" video looks at the Oceanic Six and the "conspiracy" behind their rescue. Entertaining to watch but pretty much useless.

"The Freighter Folk" - A behind-the-scenes look at the newest Lost castmembers including Daniel (Jeremy Davies), Miles (Ken Leung), Charlotte (Rebecca Mader) and Keamy (Kevin Durand).

"Offshore Shoot" - In this extra, we get a look at filming scenes on the freighter.

"Lost: Missing Pieces Mobisodes" - Fill in some of the blanks from the series with these "never before seen" moments from Lost.

Scattered throught this DVD set are also episode commentaries and a variety of Easter Eggs -- some of which I found and others I'm sure I didn't. If you spend a little time playing with the discs, they aren't too difficult to find and are worth the effort.

Overall, another great season for Lost fans. Questions were answered. More questions were asked. And the finale leaves you wanting more. It's difficult to imagine that it has been so long since the finale aired on TV and the new season is just a couple of months away. And what better way to prepare than by exploring last season in depth with this DVD set. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Lost is one TV series I'm glad to have found. Bring on the smoke monster!
