In the year of an election, this has certainly been a busy one for documentaries looking at the American presidency. Most notably, Fahrenheit 9/11 looking at the Bush administration. Next, Going Upriver: The Long War of John Kerry featuring democratic presidential candidate John Kerry. And, a bit out of place, there's The Hunting of the President, looking at William Jefferson "Bill" Clinton.

A bit out of place? What I'm trying to say is that Clinton's time is over. Why go back to it? It seems really unnecessary to me. There's probably a percentage of the American population that has some interest, but really, Clinton's presidency (and his private life for that matter) were pretty much THE story of the 90's. Maybe if this DVD had waited about 10 years to give the story some historical perspective, this movie would have been more appropriate. But really, I found myself to be more than just a little disinterested.

And it doesn't end there. The movie didn't really even strike a nerve with me. I liked Clinton, but I didn't feel anything more or less about the guy after watching the movie. On top of it, the details are a bit one-sided, so it's hard to put any stake in anything that is said here. I know a lot of it is true - there were people out to get Clinton at any cost - but all the movie does is document it - not really give any more insight - at least in my opinion.

There are no special features included with this DVD.

Like I said, the movie isn't really bad - it's the timing. Sure, it shows how corrupt the Republicans are - and how they'll do anything to get their way. But aside from that, there's really nothing current about this movie. Maybe I'll let it sit on my shelf for a few years, then watch it again to see if it gets any better with age.
