Magazine Gives Sneak Peek at 'Harry Potter'
Wednesday, September 5, 2001 12:22 PM EDT
Harry Potter fans desperate for a look at the upcoming film incarnation of the boy-wizard will get their best view yet in an upcoming issue of Vanity Fair.
The BBC reports that the October edition of the magazine will include a portfolio of cast portraits by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, including star Daniel Radcliffe on the cover, dressed as author J.K. Rowling's fictional hero.
Richard Harris as Dumbledore, Maggie Smith as Minerva McGonagall, and Alan Rickman as Snape are also included in the spread, which features an interview with Rowling.
"I've been watching it in my head for nine years now - and finally I'll get to see it along with everybody else," Rowling tells the magazine.
The article also reveals that the next Potter novel, "Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix," will likely be published in the middle of next year.
Chris Columbus, the director of "Mrs. Doubtfire" and the first two "Home Alone" films tells Vanity Fair it only made sense that his film version of "Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone" would adhere to Rowling's version.
"It was a very simple, logical theory: if the books are so popular with people, why would you change them," Columbus said.
The movie opens November 16th.
